Proposition 65 Notice

Dry Dock Fish Co. has made the decision to be proactive in providing California Proposition 65 warnings. These warnings appear on our seafood labels and various packaging, at our retail market locations, and on this website.

This warning is a requirement of California law. Providing it does not mean our seafood is more hazardous — or of any lesser quality — than any other seafood. The same trace elements occur naturally throughout the ocean, and the same law applies to every business selling seafood in California.

WARNING: Consuming our products can expose you to chemicals including mercury, lead, and cadmium, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/food.

What is Proposition 65?

Proposition 65 is not a product safety law that limits the amount of chemicals in a product, and it does not ban products. It is a California “right-to-know” law that requires warnings at very stringent exposure levels for listed chemicals. Its warning standards are among the most stringent in the world. It is a warning threshold. There are over 900 chemicals on the Proposition 65 list; many are natural substances found in the environment and in the oceans, including lead and cadmium.

Why are we providing Proposition 65 warnings?

California law requires businesses to provide these warnings, and seafood — like all ocean products — naturally contains trace amounts of listed elements. Rather than leave any question, we choose to be transparent and provide the warning across our labels, our market locations, and this website. Our seafood is the same fresh, hand-cut, never-processed product it has always been.
